The ARES Scholarships 2025-2026 Belgium offers a one-year advanced bachelor’s or master’s degree program within a higher education institution of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation (FWB), which is renowned for its exceptional enseignement and research opportunities.Â
As a cherry on top, ARES is also offering 2 to 6 month continuing education programs for working professionals, career changers, students, and entrepreneurs to help them stay updated and boost career prospects.

The program’s objective is to help scholarship recipients become agents of change in their home institutions and society through development. For the school year 2025-2026, qualified individuals from 31 ARES partner countries can apply for ARES scholarships in Belgium.
Nationals of ARES partner countries with a higher education diploma and a minimum of two years of professional work experience are eligible to apply for the international training Belgium scholarship. The applicants can select their training courses and degree-specialized programs classified by subjects and the respective universities that are offering the courses. ARES funds all training programs, providing the applicants with tuition fees, subsistence allowances, international travel expenses, health insurance, visa application fees, and other miscellaneous costs.
The application process is quite simple, with each course providing the institution and point of contact. The jury evaluates the applicants based on their academic background, professional experience, potential for change, membership in an ARES-affiliated institution, nationality, gender, and their ability to apply acquired knowledge to make an impact where necessary.

Degree Duration:
- Bachelor’s and specialized master’s degrees: 12 months maximum.
- Continued training: 2 to 6 months maximum.
Scholarship Benefits:
Free application and selection process: At any stage of the application or selection process, ARES does not charge any fees.
Gender Equality in Selection: The proportion of women selected must be greater than or equal to the proportion of female applications.
Financial support: This includes international travel expenses.

Nationality, residency, and work location:
- You are a citizen who lives and works in one of the 31 ARES partner countries.
Academic background:
- For a specialized bachelor’s program, you need a degree or diploma comparable to a Belgian 1st cycle diploma (180 ECTS credits).
- For specialized master’s and continuing education courses, you need a diploma or degree comparable to a Belgian 2nd cycle diploma (300 ECTS credits).
Professional work experience:
- You must have a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in one of the ARES partner countries.
Language proficiency:Â
- You have a strong grasp of both written and spoken English or French.

- In South America and the Caribbean: Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador, Haiti, Peru.
- Southeast Asia: Cambodia, Indonesia, Nepal, Philippines, Vietnam.

Documents required:
- Proof of nationality: A certificate of nationality or copy of passport.
- Proof of occupancy: Documents showing that you have lived in your country for the past 5 years (official government documents, bank statements, utility bills, proof of employment, etc.)
- Diplomas and transcripts: Official copies of diplomas and transcripts from all years, certified by the issuing institution.
- Recommendations: Two academic and/or professional recommendation letters.
- Preliminary project/proposal: Outlining your intended research or project goals (for certain courses, see course-specific admission conditions )
