Government of Slovak National Scholarship Program 2025

The Government of the Slovak Republic National scholarship program is now accepting applications for the academic session 2025. The NSP scholarship is offered to international students, University Teachers, PhD Students, researchers, and artists. Established in 2005, the scholarship is financed by the Ministry of Education, Research, Science, & Sport of the Slovak Republic.

NSP by the Government of Slovak Republic was established in 2005 to support the mobility of international PhD students, University Teachers, Researchers & Artists for scholarship stays at Research Organizations and Higher education Institutions in the Republic of Slovakia.

Applicants belonging to any part of the world (except Slovakian citizens) are eligible to apply for the NSP Scholarship program. The scholarship program intends to cover living costs that include (Accommodation, Food, etc) Travel grants will also be offered to the eligible applicants.

  • For Master Students: 620 EUR/Month
  • PhD Student: 1025,50 EUR/month
  • University Teacher/Researcher/artist
    • Without PhD Degree: 1025,50 EUR /Month
    • With PhD Degree: 1370 EUR/Month
    • With a PhD Degree and 10 Years of experience: 1470 EUR

Additionally, applicants can also apply for a travel allowance the amount depends on the distance between the applicant’s address and Slovakia. The amount ranges from 50 € to 1500 €,

Program Duration

  • Master Students: 1-2 Semesters (4-10 Months)
  • PhD Students: 1-10 Months
  • Researchers, Artists & University Teachers: 1-10 Months

Eligiblity Criteria:

The following criteria are set for the NSP Scholarship Programme

Masters Students

  • Must be pursuing their education outside of Slovakia
  • Masters students or students who at the time of application deadline have completed at least 2.5 years of studies in the same study program.

PhD Students

  • Pursuing a PhD Degree program outside Slovakia
  • Accepted by the Slovakia Institute or Research organization for artistic or research mobility

Teachers, Artists & Researchers

  • Invitation to teach, engage in artistic activities, or conduct research at Slovak institute

Ineligibility:

  • Students pursuing full-time education in the Republic of Slovak
  • Applicants spent more than 15 months in Slovakia in the past 36 months
  • Those who are already receiving scholarships from Slovak Republic funding

Required Documents

  • An Updated CV
  • Letter of Motivation
  • Detailed Study Program
  • Two letters of Recommendation from institute professors
  • Confirmation from the home institute that you are a regular student
  • Bachelor’s diploma with the state examination certificate
  • Admission/invitation letter issued by the host institute
