Internship at UNECE

The internship is in the Director’s office at the United Nations in Geneva, working closely with the Secretary of the Inland Transport Committee. You’ll be part of the Sustainable Transport Division, helping to make transport more environmentally friendly.

Application deadline: Jul 14, 2024.

Internship Duration

The internship is for a duration of 6 months from 1 October 2024 to 31 March 2025

Who can Apply?

Qualification /Credentials required:

Applicants must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in a graduate school of (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent). Be computer literate in standard software applications.

Field of study:

“Students pursuing degrees in economics, international relations, and related fields are encouraged to apply, with priority given to those with a focus on sustainable transport and climate change. Relevant coursework or experience in these areas is highly desirable.”

Work experience :

No professional work experience is required for participation in the Internship Programme.

Language requirements:

True linguists, effortlessly switching between French and English are welcome here! As both are the working languages in the UN

What day-to-day tasks would look like:

Research and writing

  • – Sending invitations
  • – Organizing special events
  • – Managing website and social media
  • – Assisting with meetings and events
  • – Working with countries and UN officials
  • – Taking notes
  • – Reducing carbon emissions
  • – Other tasks as needed

Application Process:

The Cover Note should detail your degree, graduation date, IT skills, areas of interest, and why you’re a strong candidate. Explain your interest in the UN Internship Programme and your availability.
