The United Nations Research Internship for Social Development offers a research internship for outstanding international students currently enrolled in the final year of an undergraduate/master’s degree program, or who have graduated with a degree (Bachelor’s/Master’s) in the areas related to social sciences, Development studies, international relations, Public policy or related fields. The research interns will be placed in the division of the Office of the Director for 3-6 months and will report to the UNRISD Director. The internship position is offering a hybrid model, you can attend the internship in person at Geneva (Switzerland), Bonn (Germany), or work partly in person and partly remotely from July to September 2025.
UNRSID, also known as the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development, is an institute within the United Nations system that is responsible for carrying out interdisciplinary research and policy analysis on development issues. Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants meeting the following criteria are eligible for the UNRISD Internship:
- Applicants enrolled in the final year of the undergraduate degree program
- Students enrolled in the master’s degree program
- Academic background in social sciences, development studies, international relations, and public policy or related fields
- Applicants graduated from the above degree program (e.g, Bachelor’s, Master’s).
- Based in Geneva to attend in-person meetings
- The organization will not bear the travel and insurance expenses for the internship duration.
- Individuals with strong research and analytical skills
- Excellent English communication skills
Intern Role
- Interns will perform research on topics related to the Second World Summit for Social Development
- Analyze policies and prepare reports
- Attend an important meeting with the Director and assist with follow-up emails
- Basic admin tasks directed by the assigned director
- Attend meetings, conferences related to the summit
- Prepare the minute sheet of the meeting and write reports on it
