You heard it right! Applications are open to apply for the MOFA Taiwan fellowship for the session 2025-26.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Taiwan, is offering a prestigious “Taiwan fellowship” and inviting applications from foreign experts and scholars having an interest in research related to Taiwan, the Asia Pacific region, cross-strait relations, and sinology to apply and have an opportunity to conduct research at the leading research institutes of Taiwan. The duration of the Taiwan fellowship is 3-6 months, depending on the participant’s research.

Taiwan fellowship, since its inception, has awarded 1,500 fellowships to applicants from 93 different countries. This is your chance to experience cutting-edge research in the renowned academic institutes of Taiwan. The fellowship is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which offers comprehensive support that includes Air travel support, Monthly grants, medical insurance, with other perks and benefits

Fellowship Coverage

The fellowship support includes

  • Economy class round-trip Airfare ticket
  • A monthly stipend of:
    • NT$60,000 for Professors, associate professors, and research fellows
    • NT$50,000 for Assistant professors, assistant research fellows, and PhD students
  • Accident insurance for the duration of the program

Who can Apply?

Applicants meeting the following criteria are invited to submit their applications for the MOFA Taiwan Fellowship:

  • Taiwan Fellowship is accepting applications from all foreign nationals.
  • Applicants must be affiliated with an overseas university or institute
  • Inviting application form for the Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, PhD students, Post Doctoral Researchers, and Research Fellows
  • Interest in research related to Taiwan, cross-strait relations, the Asia-Pacific region, and Sinology
