We are here with an important reminder that the applications for the 3rd Round of the ASEAN Research Collaboration Internship 2026 are closing soon. For those who are not aware of this program, let us give you a brief intro: it’s a prestigious program offered by the Australian Government Department of Education, in collaboration with the RMIT Asia Hub. The project is intended for early-career researchers (ECRs) from ASEAN member states to carry out commercially focused research at one of the participating Australian Research Institutions.
It’s a 3-month research stay in Australia, from February 2 to April 24, 2026. The program offers an opportunity to expand your network, access to world-class academics and facilities in Australia, and to develop your own research competencies. The selected applicants will receive generous support; each recipient will receive a stipend of AU$20,000 to complete their 3-month research placement at the Australian Research Institute.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants meeting the following criteria are invitied to
- Nationals of ASEAN member states or Timor-Leste can apply
- Australian citizens are not eligible to apply
- Completed a PhD degree program or equivalent within the past 8 years
- Must be available to attend the proposed program in Australia
- Provide a research proposal that falls under the research focus areas
- Provide all the supporting documents
- Get a placement offer from one of the participating research institutes
Eligible Countries
Applicants holding a nationality of the following countries are eligible to apply:
- Cambodia, Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam, laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Myanmar, Thailand, Singapore, Viet Nam, Timor leste
Benefits
The Research Collaboration program offers a wide range of benefits, such as:
- Recieve an allowance of up to AU$20,000 (up to 3 months)
- A travel allowance of $3,500
- Monthly stipend of $4,000 to cover living expenses
- Family Allowance of $1,500
