To all the young leaders out there striving to shape and promote a sustainable future, do you want to have a transformative experience this summer in Sweden through a fully funded summer program? If so, here is a program you should not miss. Applications are open for the Armament and Disarmament Summer School 2026. A fully funded summer program in Sweden, co-hosted by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) and the Alva Myrdal Center for Nuclear Disarmament (AMC), is scheduled to take place at Uppsala University, Sweden, from August 24-28, 2026. It’s a five-day immersive summer program that offers participants hands-on learning experiences in armament and disarmament matters through intensive workshops, seminars, and in-person lectures.

The objective of the summer program is to create a strong community of like-minded professionals from around the world who are working to shape and promote a more peaceful and sustainable future. The summer program invites applications from highly talented and motivated students, researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and young professionals with relevant experience from across the globe. To be eligible for the program, you must have completed at least a first-level university degree before the program or be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program at a recognized institution.

This year, the summer program will bring together 25 leaders to participate in this short-term program in Sweden. The program strongly encourages women, applicants from underrepresented groups, and developing countries to apply. The host organization covers all costs, including flights, accommodation, meals, and visa fees. No application fee is charged for applying. Submit your application by March 16th, 2026. Eligibility Criteria

Individuals meeting the following criteria are invited to submit an application for the Armament and Disarmament Summer School:

  • Citizens of all nationalities are welcome to apply
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or graduate degree program
  • Recent graduates are also invited to submit their applications
  • Calling applications from researchers, students, policymakers, practitioners, and Junior professionals
  • Excellent command of the English language
  • Applicants who previously participated in the program are not eligible
