A fully funded fellowship program in South Korea, organized by the Graduate School of Korean Studies at the Academy of Korean Studies invities applications from Korean and International students from across the world to conduct cutting-edge research in areas related to Korean studies, such as Arts, culture, Humanities, and social sciences.

It’s a 6-month immersive non-degree fellowship program that allows students to conduct research in South Korea while immersing themselves in Korean culture. The fellowship is intended for students currently pursuing their Master’s or PhD degree programs at accredited overseas institutes. The objective of the AKS fellowship program is to support talented students to carry out research in South Korea and empower them to become promising scholars in Korean studies.

The fellowship covers all the costs related to the program, including a competitive monthly stipend, travel support, accommodation, and access to the institute’s state-of-the-art facilities. AKS Fellowship Coverage

The AKS fellows will receive comprehensive support, which includes:

  • A monthly stipend of 750,000 KRW
  • Economy class round-trip airfare expenses

Eligiblity Criteria

To be eligible for the Academy of Korean Studies fellowship, you must meet the following criteria:

  • The fellowship is inviting both international students and Korean nationals pursuing their degrees outside Korea.
  • Students pursuing their master’s or PhD degree programs from overseas universities
  • Your research topic must align with Korea or Korean Studies
  • Previous AKS fellows are not eligible to apply
  • Designate an AKS professor as your academic supervisor
  • Proficiency in the Korean language is an assett
