Young leaders interested in innovation, sustainability, and renewable energy: we are excited to share details about an upcoming youth forum in the Middle East designed for you! Applications are open for the IRENA Youth Forum 2027, taking place in Abu Dhabi, UAE, from 6–13 January 2027. The International Renewable Energy Agency, through its official portal, has announced an application call for the 8th edition of its flagship forum and invites young changemakers from across the world to apply. The forum is designed for young leaders aged 18-35 years who are engaged in innovation, sustainability, renewable energy, or related fields. Up to 40 participants will receive a fully funded scholarship covering all program-related costs, including travel, accommodation, and visa support. No application fee is required. Forum Theme
The eighth edition of the forum centers on the theme “Youth Energising the Future: Grids, Storage and Flexibility for Renewable Energy Systems”. Under this theme, participants will explore how young leaders are advancing energy storage and system flexibility to expand reliable energy access worldwide.
Forum Objective
The objective of the IRENA youth forum is to amplify voices in climate policy and global energy and to build understanding of grid infrastructure and system flexibility, as well as the policies that enable them.
Youth Forum Coverage
The youth forum offers 40 fully funded scholarships; the scholars will receive:
- Travel coverage
- Accommodation
- Visa Support
Eligiblity criteria
Applicants meeting the following criteria are invited to submit applications:
- The youth forum is accepting applications from all nationals
- Applicants aged 18-35 years at the time of application
- Actively engaged in renewable energy or related areas
- Leading or contributing to projects, startups, research advancing the energy transition
Forum Timeline
- 6-7 January: Opening & Interactive workshops
- 8 January: Closing session
- 9-13 Janaury: Youth-led activities
