The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) offers an internship program to students enrolled in undergraduate/postgraduate degree programs or recent graduates. By combining theoretical understanding with real-world experience, this internship is a fantastic way to round out your education. Students shall receive a stipend of $700 for the duration of their whole internship, which is between 3 and 11 months.

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is a specialized agency of the UN, established back in 1945, that leads international efforts to eliminate hunger and malnutrition, reduce rural poverty, and make nutritious food accessible to rural communities.

The FAO Internship Programme is a UN initiative to facilitate a qualified talent pool of individuals specializing in relevant fields in connection with FAO’s strategy framework and UN Sustainable Development Goals, creating a 2-way channel of strategizing, working, planning, and evolving.

Students who have good knowledge of subjects relevant to the FAO field of work, good analytical skills, and the ability to work in a multicultural, international environment are eligible to apply.

FAO has announced the vacancies for the years 2025-2026 in Italy, Rome, Asia and the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, East and North Africa, Europe, and Central Asia. The application deadline for the announced 2024/25 vacancies is August 26, 2024. Apply as soon as possible to secure your position, because it’s a demanding program.

  • Candidates must be culturally adaptable, possess excellent communication skills, and have knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Legally eligible to work in the country of internship (with proper residency or visa status)

  • Candidates who have family members working for FAO under any type of contract are ineligible to apply.

  • Sponsored institutions are those with an FAO-signed internship agreement.
