To all early-career professionals seeking international training programmes, pack your bags as Indonesia is calling! Applications are open for the 23rd ASEF ASEM Human Rights Seminar 2026. Asia Europe Foundation (ASEF), in collaboration with its co-organisers of the informal ASEM Human Rights Seminar Series (ASEMHRS), is hosting this seminar and invites applications from early-career professionals to participate in a 3-day immersive capacity-building programme taking place in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, from March 30 to April 1, 2026. The seminar serves as an intensive training programme centered on the theme “Future-Proofing AI: Building Human-in-the-Loop Governance Skills for Rights-Respecting AI,” that aims to equip young professionals from acroess Europe and Asia to integrate Human rights principles into AI governance.

ASEF is inviting applications from early-career professionals residing in ASEM countries with a minimum of 1-5 years of relevant professional work experience. The host organization bears all costs of selected participants, the coverage includes Airtravel support, Accommodation, and meals during the programme. No application fee is charged to any applicant. The application process is online via the official portal. Interested individuals must submit their applications by Sunday, February 8th, 2026. About Programme

The ASEM seminar on Human rights was established in 1997 with the aim to strenghen the understanding between the civil society actors and government in Europe and Asia on issues related to the Human Rights.

ASEM Human Rights Seminar 2026 in Indonesia: Overview

Training Structure

Its a 3 days training that consists of 70 hours of total learning activities including both pre training and post training sessions.

Who can Apply?

  • Early career professionals with 1-5 years of relevant professional experience
  • Must be residing in the ASEM member countries
  • Currently working on implementing, monitoring, or advocating for AI deployment in their work

Objectives

It’s a structured training programme that revolves around three core objectives:
