The European Organization for Nuclear Research CERN Switzerland, through the CERN technical student program, is offering multiple fully funded technical studentships/internships in the academic fields of applied physics, IT, mathematics, engineering (electrical, civil, mechanical), material science, and surface science for the year 2025.
The program aims at providing fully-funded international internships to students pursuing bachelor’s or master’s degree programs to get first-hand technical experience in the relevant fields and gain an understanding of the technical blueprint and research landscape of one of the largest research organizations in Europe.
The CERN Technical Student Program 2025 offers six full-time technical internships with a contract of association from 4 to 12 months. The candidates will receive a monthly allowance of 3452 Swiss Francs, a travel allowance, supplementary funding for special circumstances, health insurance, and an additional 2-5 days of paid leave per month. Three times a year, in February, June, and October, a panel of CERN experts meets to review all applications. On each occasion, they typically select 80 students to join the program.

Who can Apply?
Interested applicants need to fulfill the following eligibility criteria in order to apply to the program;
- Be a national of a CERN member state or associate member state.
- During the internship, you will be a registered full-time student at your university.
- You have completed at least 18 months of your undergraduate studies (Bachelor or Master’s) at the time of the next student selection round taking place in February 2025 in the relevant fields to the internships you wish to apply for.
- You possess language proficiency in either English or French.
