EJN Our Ocean Conference 2026 in Mobasa, Kenya – Fully Funded

To all professional journalists with experience reporting on ocean issues, we are here with an international conference designed for you. Applications are now open for the EJN Our Ocean Conference 2026. The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) is pleased to invite applications for the 11th edition of its flagship in-person fellowship program that offers an opportunity to participate and report from the Our Ocean Conference, which takes place in Mombasa, Kenya, from June 16-18, 2026.

The 11th Our Ocean Conference centers on the theme of “Our Ocean, Our Heritage, Our Future,” highlighting the vital connection between people and the sea. The fellowship is intended for professional journalists from established media outlets or those reporting from the coastal country, with experience in ocean-related journalism. Selected fellows will receive generous support, including economy-class airfare, accommodations, medical insurance, local transportation, and more. There is no application fee, and applications must be submitted online through the official portal. Interested candidates must apply by April 7th, 2026. Late applications will not be considered.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants meeting the following criteria are invited to apply
  • Professional journalists (Staff or freelance) from an established media house
  • Have experience in reporting on ocean issues such as the Blue Economy, sustainable fisheries, etc
  • Commit to full-time in-person participation in Mobasa during conference dates
  • Predictions in the English language
  • A letter of support from an editor confirming your reports from the conference will be published in an established media outlet
  • Your work sample on ocean-related issues
