Boston University, through its official portal, has recently announced the applications for one of the anticipated “Global China Fellows Program” for the session 2026-27. A flagship fellows program of the Global China Initiative (GCI) offers an incredible opportunity for postdoctoral researchers from around the world to conduct policy-oriented research and commentary on China’s role in reshaping Global Affairs at the Boston University Global Development Policy Center, USA. The objective of the fellowship program is to cultivate the next generation of future leaders to advance policy-oriented research on China’s overseas economic activities and its interaction with Global institutions, thereby bridging the gap between academic research and real policy discussion. Work Streams
The selected fellows will pair with GDP Senior Academic Researchers, Non-Resident Senior, and BU faculty members on one of the following work streams:
- Data Analysis for Transparency and Accountability (D.A.T.A.)
- Energy and Climate
- China International Financial Architecture (CHIFA).
- Forestry, Agriculture, and Indigenous Rights (FAIR)
Who can Apply?
Applicants meeting the following criteria are invited to submit their applications:
- The Global Fellows program is accepting applications from all nationalities
- Committed to attending the full program in person in the United States
- Must secure a J-1 Visa to enter the United States
- Pre-Doctoral students must have completed their comprehensive exams and defended their dissertations by August 2026
- Have a strong interest in China’s Overseas economic activities
- Applicants from all academic backgrounds are eligible to apply
Preference is given to:
- Applicants with a geographical region of interest in South East Asia, Latin America, and Africa, in addition to China
- Fluency in Chinese or a language from the above priority regions
