Mid-career professional working in peacebuilding and international development, do you want an immersive experience in Japan through a funded professional development program? If so, pack your bags. Applications are open for the Hiroshima University Mid-Career Course 2027, a weeklong professional development program scheduled to be held in Tokyo and Hiroshima, Japan, from January 7 to 13, 2027. The course is designed for mid-career professionals working in peacebuilding and development who want to further enhance their professional skills and prepare for future leadership roles. The course is implemented by Hiroshima University with support from the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. About Hiroshima University Mid-Career Course 2027
It’s an intensive, weeklong course taking place at Hiroshima University, Japan. The program is intended for mid-career professionals, focused on helping participants understand where they are in their careers, improve their professional skills, and prepare for future roles. The course brings together professionals from a wide range of backgrounds and countries.

Programme Coverage
Support for Japanese Applicants:
- Accommodation

Support for International Applicants
- Travel expenses between Tokyo and the training venue
- Accommodation costs during the training period
The program does not cover:
- International airfare coverage
- Meals
- Other personal and incidental expenses
Who can Apply?
Applicants must meet the following criteria to apply:
- Open to mid-career professionals working in international development & peacebuilding.
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in professional development.
- Applicants from diverse professional backgrounds are invited.
- Relevant professional backgrounds include economics, engineering, finance, humanitarian work, IT, law, public health, security, environment, communications, and more.
- Strong English communication skills, both spoken and written.
- Strong interest in developing a career in the UN or other international organizations.
- Must commit to full-time participation throughout the course.
