IAEA Summer School 2026 for Students – (Remote) | Now Open

We are here to share an exciting summer school offered by one of the specialized agencies of the United Nations that you should not miss. You heard it right! The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), one of the UN bodies working to promote safe, peaceful, and secure nuclear technologies worldwide, has announced the call for applications for “IAEA Summer School 2026″ and invites applications from talented and motivated individuals from IAEA member states. It’s a 2-week specialized academic program on the Legal Framework for Nuclear Energy, organized in partnership with George Washington University Law, scheduled to take place from June 16-25, 2026. Do you know what the best thing about this summer school is? The program is completely virtual (online); you just need a laptop and access to a reliable internet connection to attend.

The summer school will be entirely conducted in English, making it more accessible for applicants from around the world to participate. The two-week academic course is based on the four pillars of Nuclear Law: Safety, Safeguards, Security, and Liability. The IAEA is inviting applications from students currently pursuing postgraduate degrees at accredited institutes who have completed their bachelor’s in relevant fields such as nuclear law, environmental law, engineering, physics, etc. Preference will be given to law students; however, students from other fields are also encouraged to apply.

Eligiblity Criteria:

  • The IAEA-GW summer school is open for students from IAEA member states
  • Law students who have completed their bachelor’s degree in the areas of international public law, nuclear law, or any other relevant law fields
  • Students who have completed their bachelor’s degree in technical fields such as engineering, physics, mathematics, etc
  • Priority will be given to the law students
  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in a postgraduate degree program in a recognized institute
  • Strong command of the English language, as the program will be held in English
