Kyoto University Amgen Scholars Program 2026 (Fully Funded)

To all the aspiring students seeking research opportunities abroad, what could be better than gaining research experience at Kyoto, Home to world-class research, with all your finances covered? The applications are open to apply for the Kyoto University Amgen Scholars Program 2026. Kyoto University, in collaboration with the Amgen Foundation, is offering this fully funded scholars program and inviting applications from talented Male/Female students from across Asia to apply.

The duration of the program is 3 months, which will run from June 5, 2026, to August 6, 2026, in Tokyo, Japan. The scholars program is exclusively designed for undergraduate students from eligible Asian countries to carry out intensive research in the sciences. The Programme aims to empower the young generation of innovators by supporting their research at renowned research institutes. The scholars will experience cutting-edge research in Biotechnology & science under the guidance of an assigned faculty member in a world-class research environment

The selected scholars will be assigned to one of the Kyoto Institute’s departments that support science and biotechnology research. In addition to 8 weeks of full time research, selected scholars will also engage in various educational activities such as Seminars, Workshops, lab visits, and poster programs where you will share your research project with the audience at the end of the program. It’s a fully funded program; the host organization covers all the costs related to the program, such as Travel costs, Accommodation, stipend, and more. Eligibility Criteria

  • Applications are open for both international and Domestic students
  • Applicants must be pursuing their undergraduate degree program
  • Students must be completing their degree in Asia
  • Students must have completed 2 semesters of their bachelor’s degree
  • Must not be graduating when the program begins
  • Return to their degree program once the program is ended

Preference is given to:

  • Applicants holding an excellent academic performance
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language
  • Demonstrate interest in pursuing a Phd degree program

Coverage

The Kyoto Amgen scholars program offers generous support, the coverage includes:

  • Economy class return airtravel support
  • Accommodation in Kyoto University dormitories
  • The scholarship offers a competitive stipend of 180,000 Yen

The program does not cover:

  • Private health insurance

Programme Features

In addition to full-time research, the participants will also engage in the following research activities:

  • Participate in workshops and seminars led by Kyoto faculty
  • Lab visits to expose students to cutting-edge research
  • Participation in a poster contest, where you will share research projects
  • Participation in the Amgen Scholars Asian Symposium in Tokyo
