One of the most anticipated summer fellowships in the United States is now open for applications! You heard it right. Call for applications for the LawAI Summer Research Fellowship 2027. Offered by the Institute for Law & AI (LawAI). This is a 10-week paid fellowship designed for law students, legal professionals, researchers, and academics interested in AI Law & Policy. The fellowship offers participants an exceptional opportunity to work closely with experienced researchers, develop their own projects, and engage with policymakers and experts from worldwide.

The fellowship will run from June 14 to August 20, 2027, with a special in-person convening week in Washington, DC, USA, from June 21–25, 2027. About LawAI Summer Fellowship

It’s a prestigious, fully funded fellowship program designed for people who want to work on important questions surrounding AI regulations, US law, and policy. During the fellowship, fellows will develop and complete a research project based on their interests, experience, and research skills.

The program aims to equip the next generation of experts working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, law, and policy.

How to Apply for the LawAI Research Fellowship in the USA?

Applicants meeting the above criteria for the fellowship need to follow the following steps to apply:

Step 1: Applicants must submit an online application form through the official portal by January 29, 2026. The application will take about 20 minutes to complete.

Step 2: Applicants will be invited to the asynchronous interview, which lasts 20 minutes. The interview is conducted to understand your perspectives on AI development.

Step 3: Those who pass the interview above will now be called for the research interview, where you will discuss your research interests and goals with the research staff.

Step 4: Selected applicants will be notified by mid-March 2027.
