A fully funded internship in the United States, offered by the Lunar & Planetary Institute, offers an opportunity to Undergraduate students to carry out cutting-edge research in the Lunar and Planetary sciences. The internship is seeking applications from talented students currently pursuing their undergraduate degree programs in natural sciences, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related fields. The duration of the internship is 10 weeks, which will either take place at the Lunar and Planetary Institute, Houston, Texas, or the NASA Johnson Space Center from June 1- August 7, 2026.

LPI Internship Duration & Location
The duration of the internship is 10 weeks and will commence from June 2 – August 8, 2026, at NASA Johnson Space Center or Lunar & Planetary Institute, both in Houston, Texas.

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants fulfilling the following criteria are invited to submit their applications:
- The LPI Internship is open for both US and International students
- Enrolled in a bachelor’s program and have completed 50 semester credit hours
- Students from any academic discipline may apply; Preference is given to students in Natural sciences, computer sciences, engineering, and mathematics.
- Applicants must have excellent academic achievements
- Excellent English communication skills
Internship Coverage
The selected intern will receive a stipend of $13,351 in financial support to cover the costs associated with the internship, such as:

How to Apply for the 2025 LPI Summer Internship?
The application submission is online through the LPI Internship online application form; No hard form of application will be accepted.
Once you start the application, provide the answers to all the questions. Once you are done and submit the application, you will receive a confirmation email with an application number and a link that shows the status of your recommendation letter.
Candidates need to provide a minimum of 2 recommendation letters and an official transcript to apply for the program. The electronic official degree transcript should be sent directly from the college to internprogram@lpi.usra.edu.

- The selection is based on students’ interest in available research projects, career objectives, and scientific interests.
