Eligiblity Criteria
Applicants meeting the following criteria to apply for the scholarship:
- Non-EU & EEA nationals are eligible to apply
- Applicants must not hold a dual nationality with any EU/EEA country
- Applicants must possess excellent academic achievements
- Previously did not participate in a higher education degree in the Netherlands
- Applicants who participated in the Exchange programs may apply
- Must secure admission to a full-time master’s degree program at UM

How to Apply for Maastricht University (UM) NL-High Potential Scholarship?
Applicants meeting the above requirements need to follow the following steps to apply for the scholarship:
Step 1: Apply for the Participating Master’s Programme
Applicants are required to apply for one of the eligible full-time masters program for the 2026-27 year. Applicants are required to submit their study application via the Studielink portal. Once you have applied, you will receive a UM Student ID number that is required to access the scholarship application
Step 2: Apply for the scholarship
Once you have received the student ID, you need to complete the separate scholarship application via the UM scholarship application portal.
Applicants are required to submit the following documents for the scholarship:
- Motivation letter (use mandatory institute template)
- CV not exceeding max 2 pages
- Official degree transcript
- Statement of financial needs
- Reference letters
Deadline: The scholarship applications need to be submitted by February 1st, 2026. The result announcement will be made by late April or early May 2026.
