About Matter to Life URO Research Internship
Hosted by the Max Planck School Matter to Life in Germany, it’s a fully funded research internship program that offers undergraduate students from around the world an opportunity to gain real research experience in an interdisciplinary scientific environment.
During the 10-week research stay, students will join the lab of one of the Matter to Life faculty fellows and work on a research project aligned with the lab’s focus. This is an ideal opportunity to work closely with renowned researchers, build an international academic network, and explore the Matter to Life research community.
Internship Location
The internship is conducted in the laboratories of Matter to Life faculty members located across Germany. The labs are located in the following German cities:
Aachen, Bayreuth, Dortmund, Dresden, Düsseldorf, Erlangen, Göttingen, Heidelberg, Heilbronn, Jena, Magdeburg, Mainz, Marburg, Münster, Munich, Potsdam, and Saarbrücken.
You can specify your preferred laboratory in your application.
Who can Apply?
You must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the internship:
- The institute welcomes applications from all nationalities
- Be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, Materials Science, Engineering, Bioengineering, or related life sciences fields.
- Must have completed at least 1.5 years of a degree
- Student status must remain active throughout the 10-week internship
- Students must have a minimum CGPA of 1.7
- Interested in conducting research in an interdisciplinary scientific environment
- No prior research experience required
Program Coverage
The internship offers the following financial support to students:
- Travel support to and from the student’s country
- Accommodation during the 10-week stay
- Monthly expenses to cover day-to-day expenses
Interns Responsibilities
During the 10 weeks of internship, selected students will:
- Conduct research in the Matter to Life research laboratory
- Work on a specific research question
- Work under the supervision of renowned researchers
- Gain practical research experience in an international environment
- Expand professional networks with researchers and fellow students
