It is one of the biggest scholarship programs offered by any institute in Australia; the institute grants a total of 600 awards under this program.

There is no separate application to apply for the scholarship; applicants who secure admission in the Graduate research program at the institute will be automatically considered for the scholarship. The program offers comprehensive support that covers full tuition fees, living allowance, relocation support, and other perks and benefits. Eligibility Criteria :

Qualification Requirement:

  • For MS/MPhil degree level: Completed a bachelor’s degree (16 years of education) or equivalent with at least 75% grades
  • For Ph.D. degree level: Completed master’s degree (18 years of education) or equivalent with at least 75% grades

Selection Criteria:

The scholarship is awarded based on academic merit. The selection is made based on the following factors:

  • Excellent academic record
  • Previous research has potential in its respective research areas
  • Referred Publications
  • Relevant work experience

Scholarship Coverage

The scholarship offers support of:

  • Comprehensive health coverage (OSHC)
  • A stipend of $38,500 per year for:
    • Up to 2 years for a Master’s Research Degree
    • Up to 3.5 years for Doctoral Research Degree
  • A one-time relocation allowance of:
    • $2000 moving from other territories than Victoria
    • $3000 moving from outside Australia

Application Process :

Applicants who apply for the graduate research course by the application closing date will be automatically considered for the Graduate Research Scholarships.

Students already pursuing their graduate research course at the institute can also apply for the scholarship by submitting an online application form by no later than 30th October 2025.

  • Step 1: Make sure you meet the admission requirements of a graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne
  • Step 2: Choose the area of your interest and identify a potential supervisor who agrees to supervise you, which will strengthen your application
  • Step 3: Prepare the required documents, such as a Research proposal, project summary, Degree transcripts, CV, Recommendation letter, and a letter from a supervisor agreeing to supervise your project.
