The National Institute of Maritime Affairs (NIMA) has announced applications for the for the Maritime Affairs Research Positions. The positions are announced against various research projects related to the maritime sector. NIMA is seeking applications from talented applicants holding PhD, MPhil/Masters, and bachelor’s degrees in the fields related to Maritime from HEC-recognized institutes. Male/female applicants from all across Pakistan are invited to submit the applications. A total of four positions are announced and are Islamabad and Karachi-based.

1. Research Fellow (Islamabad or Karachi)

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants holding a PhD degree in the fields related to Port Operations, Shipping Logistics, Maritime Law, Trade Management, Environmental Studies, Marine Science including other social sciences disciplines 

  • Applicants holding MPhil/Masters with a minimum of 2 years of work experience in the maritime field
  • Have a track record of supervising research projects in the related field

  • Excellent communication skills

2. Research Associate (01 Position) – Islamabad

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants holding M.S./M.Phil. or equivalent in the areas of Maritime Affairs/Studies, Ports & Shipping Management, Strategic Studies, IR (International Relations), Environmental Science, Marine/Blue Economy, or relevant fields.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years of research experience
  • Have Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Applicants with international publications would be preferred

3. Research Assistants (02 Positions) – Karachi

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants holding bachelor’s degrees in Maritime Affairs/Studies, Shipping Management, Logistics, International Relations, Blue Economy, Environmental Science, or other related fields.

  • Fresh graduates can apply
  • Applicants with a minimum of 1 year of experience in research-related projects will be preferred
  • Able to conduct independent research
  • Have excellent academic and writing skills
