Singapore Southeast Asia Fellowship 2026 | Fully Funded

Are you an aspiring researcher looking to expand your international research experience and collaborate with leading institutions in Southeast Asia? Applications are open for the Singapore Southeast Asia Fellowship 2026, a fully funded fellowship program in Singapore, organized by the Agency for Science, Technology, and Research Singapore. The fellowship allows talented researchers from ASEAN countries to carry out research at host institutions across the region. The fellowship supports researchers through a funded research attachment of up to 2 years. The host organization offers two fellowship pathways: 1) Inbound S-SEAF, for researchers from Southeast Asia to carry out research projects in Singapore, and 2) Outbound S-SEAF, for Singapore-based researchers to work on projects in Southeast Asian countries.

About ASTAR S-SEAF Fellowship 2026 

It’s a fully funded fellowship supported by A*star (Agency for Science, Technology & Research) Singapore that allows outstanding researchers from eligible regions to conduct research at host institutes in Singapore and Southeast Asian countries. The objective of the fellowship programme is to support outstanding researchers in the region and to strengthen research collaboration, knowledge exchange, knowledge exchange and talent mobility between Singapore and Southeast Asian Countries.

Inbound S-SEAF

For researchers from Southeast Asia to carry out research projects in Singapore institutes

Duration: The fellowship support is up to 2 years

Outbound S-SEAF

For researchers from Singapore to carry out a research project in Southeast Asian countries

Duration: the duration of support is between 6 months and 2 years

Research Theme

Each fellowship cycle is aligned to key themes. Proposals aligned with the following themes will be given priority:

  1. Infectious Diseases (Achor Theme)
  2. Human health & Potenrial
  3. Urban Solutions and Sustainability
  4. Smart Nation & Digital Economy
  5. Manufacturing, Trade & Connectivity

Who can Apply?

  • Candidates must be from eligible regions to apply, e.g.:
    • Inbound S-SEAF: Applicants holding nationality of ASEAN Countries
    • Outbound S-SEAF: Holding a citizenship of Singapore
  • Holding a PhD degree in STEM fields
  • Fluency in the English language
  • Must be affiliated with an eligible Singapore institution for the fellowship period

Fellows Responsibilities:

  • Must commence fellowship within one year of the award date
  • Conduct research at the participating host institute
  • Participate in institutional programmes and research activities
  • Contribute to knowledge exchange
  • Bound to submit the annual reports
