SIPRI is pleased to announce the call for applications for the SIPRI Internship 2026 with the Peace and Development Research theme. SIPRI seeks applications from highly organized, talented individuals interested in security and climate research and passionate about how ideas can drive change in global policy. The interns will have the opportunity to learn how a major think tank program operates, how books are written and published, and how to present their ideas to the media and decision-makers.
It’s a full-time on-site internship program at the SIPRI Office in Solna, Stockholm, with the possibility of occasional remote participation. The program is calling for applications from individuals currently enrolled in or who have recently graduated from an academic program that supports the internship scheme. An academic background in International relations, political science, climate change, development studies, or related fields is required. Learn more about the internship below.

Intern Role
The programme aims to provide students and recent graduates with a better understanding of how a think tank operates, considering that the programme is split into three important areas, which are:
11 Deep research & Narrative Synthesis
The area focuses on writing and research skills by teaching “Narrative Mining, “which turns complex information into clear and concise case study one-pagers.
2. Executive Architecture & Strategic Operations
This area focuses on organizational and coordination skills by managing meetings and helping maintain strategic focus
3. Strategic Outreach & Policy Influence
This component of the program focuses on developing communication and analytical skills through media monitoring to identify where research can contribute to the latest events
Who can Apply?
