Stanford Medical Youth Science Program 2026 (SMYSP)

To all aspiring students interested in science and medicine, do you want to participate in an immersive academic enrichment program at one of the leading institutes in the United States? Here is an opportunity. Applications are open for the “Stanford Medical Youth Science Program 2026”. A fully funded program organized by the Office of Diversity in Medical Education at Stanford University invites applications from outstanding students to participate in a 5-week summer program focused on science and medicine in Stanford campus from June 22nd to July 26th, 2026.

The Stanford Medical Youth Science Program is designed for talented first-generation and low-income high school juniors to experience hands-on research while conducting an independent public health disparities research project under the supervision and mentorship of renowned faculty and health professionals. Beyond research, participants will also engage in faculty lectures, professional development workshops, and networking events. An ideal opportunity for students interested in pursuing a career in medicine.

Program Activities:

An immersive academic enrichment program offering the following learning tracks:

  • Hospital internships: students will spend two weeks in the Stafford Hospital and gain hands-on experience through patient interaction and departmental activities
  • Health Research: students will research health disparities
  • Hands-on workshops delivered by the experts and Stanford students
  • Professional development: Intensive workshops centered on leadership skills, application strategies, and more.

Eligiblity Criteria

The SMYSP 2026 is calling applications from applicants meeting the following criteria:

  • High school juniors attending their school in Northern California
  • Inviting students from low income families
  • Demonstrate interest in pursuing careers in science and medicine
  • The program is highly competitive
