The scholarship offers 3 types of research scholarships:
(1) Research Fellowship
- Duration: 12 Months
- Start Date: September 1st, 2026
The research fellowships are being offered to early-career researchers from any academic field to carry out one-year research at one of the participating Swiss higher education institutions. The fellowship is valid for full-time research in Switzerland.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants holding a master’s or equivalent degree
- Applicants born after 31 December 1990
- Detailed research plan with proper milestones and activities
- Secure a letter of support from an academic supervisor in Switzerland
Selection Criteria
- The selection is based on: Applicants’ research, motivation, and academic profile
Coverage:
- A monthly allowance of CHF 1,920/month
(2) PhD Scholarship
- Duration: 12-36 Months
- Start Date: September 1st, 2026
The PhD scholarships are offered to highly qualified researchers who have secured their master’s degree in any academic discipline. The objective of the scholarship is to support applicants to pursue their PhD degree program at one of the reputed higher education institutions of Switzerland or a research institute. Priority is given to the applicants who have previously not conducted research in Switzerland.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants who have secured a master’s degree or equivalent by July 31st, 2025
- Born after 31st Decembet 1990
- Applicants with a detailed research plan specifying key milestones
- Have a letter of support from an academic supervisor
- Applicants already in Switzerland, their date of arrival must not be earlier than the 1st August 2025
Scholarship Coverage
- A monthly allowance of CHF 1,920 per month to cover living expenses
(3) Postdoctoral Scholarships
- Duration: 12 Months
- Start Date: 1 September 2026
The Postdoctoral scholarships are offered to highly qualified early career postdoctoral researchers to carry out a research project at one of the recognized Swiss research institutes. The scholarship is valid only for full-time research in Switzerland
Eligibility Criteria:
- Completed PhD thesis b/w January 23 & July 26
- Detailed research plan with key milestones
- Letter of support from an academic supervisor in Switzerland
Scholarship Coverage
The scholarship offers a stipend of CHF 3,500 per month to cover living expenses.
(4) Arts Scholarship
- Duration: 12 Months (Extension up to 21 months)
- Start Date: September 1st, 2026
The Arts scholarships are offered to outstanding foreign students who wish to pursue their first master’s degree in Switzerland. The Arts scholarships are being offered in all the Swiss Conservatories & Art schools. The scholarships are intended for brilliant arts students who do not hold a master’s or equivalent degree. The art scholarships are available for a limited number of countries.
