UN Portugal Ocean Fellowship 2025 in Europe (Fully Funded)

Portugal is calling! Applications are open for the 2nd edition of the UN Portugal Ocean Fellowship 2025. A prestigious “capacity-building program on Sustainable Ocean Governance and Blue Economy”, exclusively designed for the Ocean policy officials, belonging to the UN Member States. The objective of the program is to equip professionals with valuable skills and knowledge to address the pressing ocean related issues. The duration of the program is 4 days and is scheduled to take place in Portugal from October 20th to 25th, 2025. A short-term immersive training program co-organized by the Portuguese Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN-DESA).

A total of 30 fellowships will be awarded for the 2025 session. All the costs related to the program will be covered by the host organization, such as travel coverage, Local transportation, Meals, Accommodation, and much more. The application process is online. No Application fee will be charged from any applicant while applying – the online application needs to be submitted by July 15th, 2025. Fellowship Coverage

A fully funded fellowship that covers all the costs related to the program the coverage including:

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants belonging to the UN Member States are invited to apply
  • Fellowship is intended for high-level government officials responsible for decision-making in ocean policy, governance, and management
  • Demonstrate experience in Ocean policy making and governance
  • Employed in the service of their respective governments
  • Have excellent English communication skills
  • Women candidates are highly encouraged to apply
  • Preference is given to applications from small island developing states and least developed countries
  • Committed to attending the whole duration of the fellowship
