The United Nations Development Program (Washington Representation Office) has announced the internship positions for its Washington office through its official portal. The UNDP Washington Representation office serves as a primary UNDP liaison to the US State Department, USAID, the World Bank, and other renowned international organizations.

The UNDP Washington Representation Office is seeking applications from interns for the two roles: 1) A general Intern and 2) Communications and outreach interns. The internship is inviting applications from outstanding students currently pursuing graduate-level studies in the fields related to communications, economics, environmental studies, and public or business administration. The internships are highly competitive, and applicants with excellent academic achievements are invited to submit their applications. The duration of the internship is 4 months, during which interns will UNDP’s day-to-day work, participate in high-profile conferences, and make contributions in other tasks and duties assigned by the lead.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants meeting the following criteria are eligible for the UNDP Washington Internship:

• UNDP is accepting applications from all nationals
• Students enrolled in the postgraduate degree program in: Administration, public, economics, business, environmental, or related fields
• Return to studies after successful completion of the internship
• Available for the duration of the internship program
• Demonstrate interest in global development
• Applicants with having interest in working on global issues
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken

Internship Types & Roles

1. UNDP Washington General Internship

Intern Roles:

• Interns will attend a congressional hearing
• Responding to requests made for UNDP’s attention
• Plan and execute events related to UNDP
• Updating and managing the contact databases
• Assist UNDP staff for day to day operations

2. UNDP Washington Communications & Outreach internship

Intern Roles:

• Manage and update the UNDP Washington office website
• Implement new communication tactics and strategies
• Research materials for publications
• Managing and monitoring social media platforms
• Assist in outreach activities
