To all young researchers contributing towards social development, we are here with an exciting international competition offered by one of the specialized agencies of the United Nations that you should not miss out on! UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, & Cultural Organization), through its offical portal, has recently announced the call for nominations for the UNESCO Juan Bosch Prize 2026.
A prestigious programme funded by the Government of the Dominican Republic and administered by the social and human sciences sector of UNESCO is inviting applications from young researchers under 40 years who have demonstrated research expertise in subjects related to Latin America and Carribean region, and have made meaningful contributions to the social development policies in the region. The application process is through authorized entities such as the Government of Member states and non-governmental organizations (NGO) with official relations with UNESCO and are active in the fields of social sciences.
Applicants cannot apply individually for the program. The winner of the 2026 edition will recieve a total prize of USD 12,000. There are no country restrictions; applicants from all around the world are invited to apply. The deadline for the nomination is February 15th, 2026. - Young scientists and researchers under 40 years of age
- Research focuses on the areas related to the Caribbean and Latin America
- Researchers who have made meaningful contributions to social development policy in the region

How to Apply?
To apply for the nomination, you must follow the following steps:
Step 1: Identify a nominating entity, either a non-governmental organization or a National Commission for UNESCO in member states
Step 2: Prepare the following documents in either English or French
- Summary of work that includes a publication or thesis
- A description of the candidate acheivements and background
- A statement that defines your contribution to the prize objectives
Step 3: The complete nomination file, duly signed and stamped, must be emailed to  premio.juan.bosch@unesco.org.Â
Nomination Deadline: The last date for the submission of nominations is no later than 15 February 2026, Midnight (GMT+1, Paris time).
