To all the aspiring women leaders with an interest in AI, do you want to participate in an immersive training this summer in Geneva through a fully funded fellowship programme? The United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR), one of the autonomous agencies within the United Nations responsible for conducting evidence-based research on international security and disarmament, is pleased to announce the applications for its flagship “UNIDIR Women in AI Fellowship 2026” and invites applications from highly motivated and dynamic women those at Junior to Mid career level from UN member states with an interest in technology, security and gender to apply and participate in week long immersive training programme taking place from Monday, 8 June – Friday, 12 June, 2026 in Geneva, Switzerland.
It’s a week-long, structured in-person training program that revolves around three key pillars: Education, Exploration, and Networking, designed to provide women leaders with the skills, knowledge, and networks to engage in multilateral AI discussions in the areas of security and peace. The fellowship offers comprehensive support to fellows, including Full tuition fees, Travel costs, accommodation, and more. No application fee is required. Training Structure:
A one-week-long in-person training in Geneva, Switzerland, consists ofthe following components:
Education: In this phase, fellows will learn about the AI technology, its strengths and limitations in secutiry applications
Exploration: Apart from lectures, in this phase, fellows will have practical immersion through guided lab visits to the main technical hubs and have the opportunity to interact with global leaders involved in designing and developing AI
Networking: Connect with senior leaders, civic society members, and private sector leaders.
Coverage
It’s a fully funded fellowship, UNIDIR covers:
- Full tuition fee
- Round-trip airfare coverage to and from Geneva
- Accommodation during the program dates
The above support is available for a limited number of participants; preference will be given to individuals from developing countries
Eligibility Criteria
Individuals fulfilling the following requirements are invited to apply:
- The fellowship is exclusively designed for women
- Represent a UN Member state
- Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken
- Demonstrate passion in technology, security, and gender
