Looking for the international traineeships? We are here with an exciting traineeship program offered by one of the specialized units of the United Nations that you should not miss out on. You heard it right! The United Nations Institute for Training & Research has announced the call for applications for the UNITAR Womens Leadership Trainee Programme 2026. The Trainee position is based in the UNITAR office located in Geneva, Switzerland. The selected trainees will work in UNITAR’s Division for Peace under the supervision of a programme specialist, where they will assist in a variety of tasks. The traineeship position is contractual, and the contract duration is six months. The objective of the traineeship programme is to empower young leaders with relevant skills and knowledge, and provide them with professional exposure, enabling them to contribute to sustainable peace.

UNITAR is calling applications from the students currently enrolled in Undergraudate, graduate, and Postgraduate degree programs, or who have recently graduated in the fields of peace, conflict studies, international relations, gender studies, and related fields, to apply and have an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with the United Nations. The traineeship offers a competitive monthly stipend. The trainees will receive a stipend of 900 CHF for the program duration. The application process is online. Eligiblity Criteria

Applicants meeting the following criteria are invitied to submit the applications for the UNITAR Traineeship – Women’s Leadership for Peace programme:

  • The traineeship is accepting applications from all nationals
  • Both Male/Female applicants can apply
  • Students currently enrolled in the bachelor’s, master’s, master’s, or phd degree programme
  • Fresh graduates who completed their degree within the last 2 years can apply
  • The academic background must be in the areas of Peace and conflict studies, international relations, Gender studies, or any other related social sciences fields
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in the training development on women leadership, capacity building for youth, and learning project management
  • Excellent English communication skills
  • Knowledge of any other official UN language would be an asset
