Admission:
- Twice a year (May-June for the fall term and once in September-October for the spring term).
Internship Duration
The duration of the UNU Junior fellows internship is 4 months which is 16 weeks.
Working Hours:
- Full-time Employed Juniors: Monday to Friday: 9:30 to 17:30
- Official UNU holidays and weekends: Off
- Monthly paid off: 1.5 days of paid time off each month.
Who is Eligible?
To be eligible for the UNU Junior Fellows Internship, the candidate must be:
- Pursuing postgraduate studies or recently completed (master’s or doctoral) degree within two years of the application process.
- Below 32 years of Age while applying.
- With no more than five years of professional experience at the workplace.
- Fluent in written or spoken English.
- Possess amazing research and writing skills.
- Able to build and sustain productive working relationships with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
- Exhibits ingenuity and inventiveness when tackling problems.
- Possesses advanced computer abilities, including sound, practical understanding of MS Office software.
- Possesses a track record of showing interest in the activities of the UN, particularly those of the UN University.
UNU Internship Benefits:

- A monthly stipend covering travel expenses to and from the UNU headquarters building is provided to Junior Fellows.
Working Areas and Responsibilities for Internees:
- Writing and research in administration for the purpose of building institutions.
- Organizing and assisting with the creation of processes and tools for project management.
- Coordinate events both online and on location.
- Organizing meetings and taking minutes along with logistical support.
- Copy editing and report proofreading.
