Yet again, we are back with the same program, but this time offered in Japan, you heard it right! Applications are open to apply for the UTokyo Amgen Scholars Program 2026. The Amgen Foundation, in collaboration with the University of Tokyo, is offering this prestigious program and inviting applications from high-achieving undergraduate students to undertake intensive research projects at the University of Tokyo.
The objective of the Amgen scholars program is to provide undergraduate students with hands-on research experience in world world-class research environment under the mentorship of renowned experts. The scholars programme is exclusively designed for students who are committed to pursuing their careers in Biology or related sciences and are willing to pursue their graduate studies.
The Amgen scholarship is open to both international and Japanese students. The research opportunities are being offered in the various graduate schools of Utokyo. Other than research experience, the program also features special seminars, sessions, cultural events, access to the institute’s state-of-the-art facilities, and more. No application fee is required to apply for the program – the last date for the submission of the application is February 1st, 2026. Read more details about the programme below.

Eligiblity Criteria
Applicants meeting the following criteria are invited to submit their applications for the 2026 UTokyo Amgen scholarship:
- Calling applications from the students currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree
- Applicants must be pursuing a degree program across the Asia region
- Students must have completed one year of their degree program
- Students must not graduate before the program begins

Financial Coverage
The Utokyo scholars program offers generous support to participants. The coverage includes:
- An off-campus accommodation provided by the host organization
- Economy class round-trip air travel coverage
- A stipend of 280,000 JPY for the duration of the program
The program does not cover
- Health & Travel insurance.
