A prestigious fellowship program hosted by the Yusof Ishak Institute in Singapore is seeking applications from outstanding post-doctoral researchers and mid-career policymakers from all around the world to participate and experience relevant research in the areas related to international politics and security, regional economics, and digital technology.

The fellowship aims to train the next generation of scholars and policymakers to understand how global major powers influence Southeast Asia through policy-relevant research in the focus areas that we will discuss later in this post. This is a fully funded fellowship in Singapore, all the costs related to the fellowship will be beard by the host organization, which includes Air travel coverage, monthly stipend, library access, accommodation, and much more. The fellowship was established by the Yousaf Ishak Institute in the honour of Professor Wang Gungwu, the former Chairman of its Board of Trustees complementing his 17 years of service.

Fellowship Benefits

The Yusof Ishak Institute covers all the costs related to the fellowship, which include:

  • Round-trip air travel coverage
  • A competitive stipend to cover living expenses

Research Areas

The duration of the fellowship is 2-6 months, during which fellows will be engaged in relevant research on international politics, regional economics, and digital technology in the following research focus areas:

  3. Progress of global and regional economic initiatives
  4. Rise of China and the impact on Southeast Asia

  • Open for Postdoctoral researchers and mid-career policy makers
  • Mid-career policy makers without a PhD degree, with an appropriate level of professional and research interest, can apply
