Application call for the Westlake University 2025 Summer Research Internship. Westlake University is hosting a 6-week highly anticipated summer research internship for ambitious international students to experience cutting-edge research in Westlake’s institute’s state-of-the-art laboratories alongside renowned faculty. The internship will take place in Hangzhou, China, from July 14 – August 22, 2025.
Westlake Summer research internship is designed for students currently pursuing bachelor’s/master’s degree programs with expected graduation in 2026-27 or who have graduated in the relevant fields. A total of 60-70 research internships will be awarded in 2025. The internships are available in Westlake’s four prestigious schools (School of Science, School of Engineering, School of Medicine & School of Life Sciences) – Do you know what makes this summer internship more attractive? In addition to research work, participants will also have an opportunity to participate in round-table discussions, research forums, and cultural activities, allowing them to engage with the diverse Hangzhou community.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants meeting the following criteria are eligible for the Summer Research Internship:
- Non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport are invited to apply
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s/master’s degree and expected to graduate in 2026-27
- Candidates who have completed the degree program can also apply
- Applicants belong to the following academic backgrounds:
- Biology, Basic Medicine, Clinical Medicine, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmacy, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science and Engineering, Optical Engineering, Electronic Science and Technology, Computer Science and Technology & Environmental Science and Engineering, or other related disciplines
