Applications are open for the Yale Emerging Climate Leaders Fellowship 2026. A prestigious fellowship program offered by the Jackson School of Global Affairs, Yale University, and administered through the International Leadership Center (ILC) is inviting applications from young climate and clean energy practitioners from the Global South to apply and broaden their technical skills build professional network and strengthen leadership in clean energy and climate change.
The fellowship is seeking applications from various professions; whether you are an educator, researcher, financier, company professional, journalist, civil society representative, legal adviser, or legislator, it’s open to all. The duration of the fellowship program is 5 months, which is delivered in a Hybrid model that includes two weeks of in-person sessions at Paris and Yale, followed by bi-monthly remote learning. A tailored program that offers an opportunity to engage with Yale faculty, network with global leaders to discuss the key issues in the climate change and clean energy agenda. The objective of the fellowship program is to build a community of committed climate change leaders from developing countries and help them grow by learning from top Yale experts and the global leaders to support a cleaner and more sustainable future.

Yale Orientation Week | February 16-20, 2026
The 5-month fellowship program kicks starts with an in-person orientation program at Yale University, New Haven, where fellows will engage in interactive sessions with Yale faculty to set the terms for the Global climate change debate. During the orientation weeks, fellows will have an opportunity to explore a wide range of climate initiatives and delve into cutting-edge scholarship opportunities on a wide range of clean energy and climate issues
Remote Learning | March-June 2026
The fellows will go through a series of transformative remote sessions with top professionals associated with climate change and clean energy. The remote sessions consist of interactive expert-led sessions on various topics such as decarbonization, energy policy, governance, and cross-cultural collaboration
Closing Week | Paris June 15-19, 2026
The fellowship will conclude in Paris, where fellows will have an opportunity to interact with the top international climate change experts, share their views, and develop strong networks with professionals. Moreover, fellows will also have networking opportunities with the staff members of the International Energy Agency and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, French municipal officials, think tanks, academia, and the private sector.
Eligibility Criteria
The Yale fellowship is accepting applications from applicants meeting the following criteria:
- Applicants holding a nationality of the Global South, e.g, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America/Caribbean)
- Applications with at least 5-10 years of experience in clean energy and climate-related work
- Excellent English communication skills
- Committed to attending the complete program, including both in-person and remote sessions.

- Commitment to bringing a positive change at the local or international levels
- Passionate about expanding networks
