Call for Applications for the British Academy Global Innovation Fellowship 2025! The British Academy UK and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace are offering fully funded fellowships for early or mid-career researchers from the humanities or social sciences.
The goal of the fellowships is to provide opportunities for early-career researchers based in the UK to work with researchers in the USA, Japan, Switzerland, South Korea, India, and Canada, among other countries, to develop their skills, networks, and careers while working on the major themes of our time: planet, health, teaching, and talent.
The academy is offering two fellowships, each lasting one year. The fellowships will be based at one of Carnegie’s offices in the United States, again in Washington, DC, California. Each fellowship comes with a grant of up to 150,000 pounds to support the fellow’s research and living expenses for the duration of the fellowship, including salary, research expenses, travel, training, and all other incidentals for the applicants and their dependents.
The UK Government’s International Science Partnership Fund supports the Global Innovation Fellowship. This program places research and innovation at the center of international relations in the pursuit of a more prosperous world.
The British Academy has announced the first recipients of the global innovation fellowships. Applications for the 2nd round are live from July 24th, 2024, with a deadline of November 27th, 2024. The program is expected to commence in March, April, or September of 2025, at the discretion of the applicant.

Eligibility Criteria:Â
- The program involves researchers from diverse backgrounds and regions, including Asia, Africa, Europe, India, the Middle East, Russia, and Europe who are residents of the UK.
- Applicants must be early- or mid-career researchers from across the humanities and social sciences, or interdisciplinary fields that combine the humanities and social sciences at the post-doctoral level.
- A research institution must employ or affiliate the applicants. (Independent researchers are ineligible to apply.)
- Applicants need to demonstrate a solid understanding of the relevant issue stated in their research, including the applicable policy landscape and systematic challenges.
- Although not necessary, language skills are desirable.

- A CV or resume
- Provide a personal statement, no more than 500 words, that explains your academic background, skills, research interests, and why you are a fit for the program.
- A research proposal, comprising approximately 1,000 words, should clearly outline your project, goals, and expected outcomes.
- Applicants need two reference letters from academic or professional contacts.
