For all the writers aged above 18, we are here with an incredible opportunity for you all! Call for applications for the Iceland Writers Retreat Alumni Award 2025, The award offers financial support to talented writers from all around the world to attend the retreat in Fosshotel Reykjavík, Iceland.
Interested applicants apply either for full funding or partial funding, The fully-funded award recipient will receive a participation fee, four nights of accommodation at the retreat hotel, and a round-trip flight to Iceland. Applicants who are aged 18 having good writing skills are encouraged to apply for this program and have an opportunity to visit Iceland.
For the award applicants need to demonstrate that they don’t have financial means to attend the program without having this award. You don’t need to be a professional writer for the selection you only need to be serious about the craft and interested in developing skills. Types of Award
The retreat offers 2 types of awards that are:
- Fully Funding
- Partial Funding
What’s included in Fully Funding?
- Covers one participant fee
- Four nights accommodation in the retreat hotel
- Round-trip air tickets to attend the program
What’s included in Partial Funding?
- Covers participant’s fee only
- No Accommodation covered
- No Air travel tickets covered
*Make sure you apply for a suitable category as fully funded category applicants won’t be considered for partial funding.
Who can Apply?
- Applicants aged 18 or above belonging to any country can apply
- Applications are invited from people of all backgrounds with all levels of writing experience.
- Those applicants are preferred who have previously not attended other writing retreats to develop their writing skills.
Selection Criteria:
The selection is based on two factors
- Need for financial assistance to attend the program
- Applicant’s potential to demonstrate as a writer.
All the applications will be evaluated based on application questions, so make sure you tell about yourself and why you think you are a better match for this retreat. All the applications will be reviewed by the Iceland Writers Retreat Alumni and the final decision will be made by IWR founding directors.
Tips for Application
- Incomplete applications won’t be entertained
- Once you submit your application you cannot make further edits so make sure you complete it once.
- In the application don’t mention you love to visit Iceland or apply for the award to visit Iceland, you simply need to tell why this particular event and faculty captured your interest in applying.
- The maximum length of writing samples should not exceed a maximum of 1000 words.
- Attach the references in your applications, references should be from the people who are familiar with your writing skills and are not your family members. (The references are not accepted separately make sure the references are attached to your application)

The application process to apply for the IWR Alumni Award is online, you need to complete an online application provide all the answers in the application, and submit it.
Late and incomplete applications will not be entertained by any means, the last date for the submission of an application is 11:59 p.m. UTC on Friday, November 1, 2024.
The result announcement will be made on the 1st week of December, due to the high number of applications only selected applicants will be notified about their selection via phone or email.
