The Center for International Environmental Law (CIEL), through its official portal, has recently announced the “2026 Legal Internship (Climate) position” and is seeking applications from dynamic and highly motivated applicants from all around the world to apply.

For those who are not aware of the CIEL, it’s one of the reputed organizations that work at the intersection of environment and human rights. The internship offers a unique opportunity to students currently pursuing their degree in Law to gain hands-on experience in the field of international environmental law while working on real-time projects under the supervision of a diverse staff of experts and attorneys. The internship is calling applications from the high-achieving students, currenly pursuing their graduate degree program, or who have recently completed their law degree.

It’s an entry-level position; there is no prior experience required to be eligible for the internship program. The duration of the internship program is 12-24 weeks, commencing in January 2026 at the CIEL office in Geneva, Switzerland. Who can Apply?

Applicants meeting the following criteria are invited to submit their applications for the Center for International Environmental Law Internship:

  • Students currently pursuing a graduate degree program in a relevant field from an accredited institute
  • Applicants working towards or have recently completed their legal degree (LLM, JD, etc) can apply
  • Applicants must be available for a minimum of 12 weeks to a maximum of 24 weeks for 24 hours a week
  • No prior experience is required; however, having some experience with the international environment or human rights would be a plus
