Programme Tracks
The GROW scholarships offer two programme tracks:
- Programme Track 1: Preparatory and Cooperation Visits
- Programme Track 2: Research Stays

Programme Track 1: Duration – 1 to 2 Months
Applicants who are approved in programme track 1 will recieve funding for the research stays in the recognized research institutions in Germany, where they will carry out joint research projects in the areas related to development and establish international networks and cooperation
Programme Track 2: Duration – 2 to 6 Months
The programme track 2 allows funding for conducting an independent research project in a leading recognized research institute in Germany. The research is carried out in development areas with a clear transfer concept for implementing into home countries.
Eligiblity Criteria
Applicants meeting the following criteria are invited to submit their applications for the Grow scholarship:
- Applicants must be a national of a country on the OECD DAC list
- The scholarship is aimed at researchers, currently enrolled or employed at a recognized research institute in their home countries.
- Doctoral students who have not started their studies more than 3 years ago can apply
- Postdoctoral researchers who have completed their PhD degree
- University employees such as teachers, professors, and assistant professors
- Applicants beloning to the eligible countries but residing in Germany for longer than 15 months are not eligible to apply
- The candidate’s project must align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals
- Women and candidates from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds are encouraged to apply
Financial Coverage
The scholarship offers generous support, and the coverage includes:
- A competitive monthly allowance based on your career stage:
- Stipend for Full Professors: €2,150 per month.
- Assistant Professors and Lecturers: €2,000 per month.
- Post Docs and Doctoral Candidates: €1,400 per month
- Round-trip international airfare allowance
