CIVICUS, the renowned global alliance of civil organizations that strengthens citizen action and civil society worldwide through its official portal, has announced a call for applications for its flagship “CIVICUS Civic Space Research Internship 2026”. This prestigious internship program is designed for talented young professionals holding a minimum bachelor’s degree in political science or international relations, with demonstrable research experience in human rights and a strong understanding of international human rights frameworks. It’s a full-time, 6-month remote internship position. Selected interns will report directly to the Civic Space Research Lead for the duration of the program. Selected interns will receive a stipend of USD 1200 per month for the duration of the internship.
The research internship offers an incredible opportunity to gain hands-on research experience while contributing to CIVICUS real-time research projects under the supervision of an experienced research lead. Civicus Space Research Internship Overview
The Space research internship is a flagship initiative of CIVICUS that supports CIVICUS Monitors’ global research collaboration and prepares the annual People Power Under Attack reports. Interns will assist the team with research, analyze civic space incidents, and collaborate with international partners.

Who can Apply?
You must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the CIVIC space research internship:
- The research internship is open to all nationalities.
- Applicants who have completed a bachelor’s degree program in political science, international relations, or related fields.
- Demonstrable expereince in researching human rights.
- Knowledge of the human rights frameworks in the context of fundamental freedom of association.
- Profiency in the English language.
- Profiency in any UN language is desirable.
