Well, here is some exciting news: CERN has recently announced a call for applications to its “CERN OPENLAB Summer Student Program” for session 2026, seeking applications from outstanding, talented students from around the world.

The OpenLAB programme is exclusively designed for high-achieving students currenly pursuing their undergraduate and master’s degree programs in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or other relevant fields from recognized, accredited institutes and have completed at least 6 semesters or 3 academic years of their degree program by the start of the programme. This is your chance to spend summers in the place where science, innovation, and technology meet.

The summer program will run for 2 months and be held on-site at Meyrin, Switzerland. The program aims to provide students with cutting-edge research experience by working on real scientific or technical projects alongside experts and students from all around the world. Eligiblity Criteria

Applicants fulfilling the following criteria are invited to submit their applications for the CERN OPENLAB Summer Programme:

  • No country restrictions, accepting applications from all nationals
  • Calling applications from bachelor’s and master’s students
  • Students must be pursuing a degree program in IT, Software engineering, or related fields.
  • Must have completed 6 semesters of their degree program
  • Must be motivated and passionate to experience hands-on work
  • Students must have an excellent academic record
  • Willing to collaborate with others in an international work environment
  • Demonstrate interest in exploring new ideas and perspectives
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • PhD students are not eligible to apply
  • Previously did not work with the organization
