Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES) Scholarships 2024

Want to pursue a degree in Germany? The Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Foundation (FES) Scholarships in Germany for the 2024–2025 academic year are now announced!

This scholarship opportunity is from the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, a political party foundation in Germany that works with the Social Democratic Party of Germany. International students from Asia, Latin America, and Africa can now study in Germany with no fees.

The 2024–2025 Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Foundation Scholarship is fully financed and is available to students in Germany at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. A EUR 750 to 850 stipend per month will be given to students, along with health insurance costs and other allowances.

Purpose of Friedrich Ebert (FES) Scholarships

Up to 40 outstanding students may be chosen for this prize, which comes with a full seminar program designed to improve the applicants’ intellectual and social skills.

Students who demonstrate exceptional academic ability or academic excellence and aspire to study in Germany are encouraged to apply. Moreover, students who are committed to the values of social democracy can positively apply them across all academic disciplines.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Even though the classes are in English, applicants still need to speak German fluently.
  • Scholarships from the Friedrich Ebert Foundation are available to students in any subject.
  • Candidates must have been enrolled at a university that is accredited by the state or in Germany.
  • To be eligible for this German scholarship program, applicants must be citizens of the EU, post-Soviet republics, and the Global South (Asia, Africa, and Latin America).
  • In addition, they need to be driven to learn and actively participate in society and politics.

Scholarship Benefits:

  • Monthly stipends of EUR 830 for undergraduates and EUR 850 for master’s students.
  • Coverage of health insurance costs.
  • A family allowance of EUR 276 for scholars with children.
  • A chance to participate in symposia.

How Do I Apply?

  • To apply online, visit the FES official website and complete the online application.
  • Provide all the required and necessary documents along with further supporting materials, such as expert evaluations from professors or instructors.
  • Candidates who get shortlisted will have two interviews, one with a dependable lecturer and another with a committee member who chooses recipients of the FES fellowship.
  • Finally, to determine the scholarship awardees, the selection committee convenes regularly.

Application Deadlines:

First-year students: The deadlines are October 31, 2024, for the winter semester and April 30, 2024, for the summer semester.

Master’s students: The deadlines are October 31, 2024, for the winter semester and April 30, 2024, for the summer semester.

Bachelor or Diploma students: Applications must be submitted at least three semesters prior to the conclusion of the regular study period and after the first semester.

Medical students: until the end of the sixth semester, either after the fourth semester or following the physics exam.
