Who can Apply?

  • The nationality of a country with diplomatic relations with Japan is a requirement for applicants.
  • Individuals with dual citizenship who are of Japanese nationality and whose domicile is outside of Japan at the time of application are qualified to apply.
  • Candidates have to have been born on April 2, 2000, or later.
  • Candidates who meet the requirements mentioned in the official university website must be at least 18 years old in order to be admitted to a Japanese institution.
  • Students who have finished their 12 years of education in nations outside of Japan are encouraged to apply.
  • Applicants who have successfully completed an academic certification exam in a nation other than Japan that is comparable to finishing a 12-year education are eligible.
  • You must be prepared to learn the Japanese language.
  • A health certificate must be submitted by the applicant.

Mext Undergraduate Scholarship Benefits:

  • 100% of the tuition Fee will be covered.
  • Admission fee and book fee will be provided.
  • 117,000 yen per month as a stipend will be given. A supplemental regional allowance of 2,000 yen or 3,000 yen per month will be added to the monthly scholarship.
  • Living allowance, accommodation, and meals are covered.
  • Travelling allowance is covered.

How to Apply for MEXT Scholarship?

The application for the MEXT Undergraduate Scholarship along with the required documents needs to be submitted to the Japan Embassy in your home country. You can print out the application and fill it with handwriting or with software.
