A fully funded scholarship in Japan allows you to pursue your master’s degree at one of Japan’s leading higher education institutions. Applications are open for the University of Tokyo ADB Scholarship 2027. This highly competitive scholarship program, financed by the Government of Japan and administered by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), is designed for citizens of ADB developing countries to pursue a master’s degree at leading higher education institutions, including the University of Tokyo.
Under this scholarship program, students will pursue a master’s degree at the Graduate School of Frontier Science (GSFS) at the University of Tokyo. The scholarship is currently open for the October 2027 intake. Selected students will receive coverage of tuition and enrollment fees, airfare, a monthly stipend, and more. A total of 9 departments at the institute are accepting ADB-JSP students for the 2027 intake. Program Objective

Who can Apply?
Applicants meeting the following criteria can apply:
- Be a national of an ADB developing member country
- Secure admission to an eligible master’s program at GSFS
- Meet the scholarship requirements
- Applicants must be no older than 35 years of age
- The scholarship supports only a master’s degree
- Doctoral degrees are not supported
- Identify a faculty member who can supervise the proposed research
- Agree to return to the home country after completion of studies
Scholarship Coverage
Selected scholars will receive the following support:
- Full tuition coverage
- Institute enrollment fee
- Round-trip airfare support
- Monthly stipend of approximately JPY 144,000
- Allowance to cover research activities
