NUST Summer School 2024 (Funded by DAAD)

Application call for the Nust Summer School 2024! The National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) is shaping the future by organizing a “Summer School on GHG emissions” and a “Biochar Academy” at NUST’s renowned Atta-ur-Rahman School of Applied Bioscience (ASAB). NUST and Hochschule Geisenheim University (HGU) Germany collaborate on this project, which DAAD Germany is funding through the “AssesGHG-RemoveC” program.

The Summer School, which begins on September 30 and continues until October 4, 2024, is open to bachelor’s and/or master’s students, doctoral students, postdoctoral candidates, postdoctoral researchers, researchers with doctorates, and university lecturers in fields like agroecology and environmental sciences who have a keen interest in improving mechanistic understanding of greenhouse gas emissions and measurement techniques, as well as the Biochar Academy.

Assessing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions: Removing carbon (C) from the atmosphere is a project that aims to develop sustainable agricultural practices, mitigate climate change, and promote environmental conservation. In Pakistan, the GHG summer school workshop takes place at the same time as Biochar Academy. The Biochar Academy’s goal is to incentivize rural biochar production and use through the growing global trade in carbon sinks.

Furthermore, the “AssesGHG_RemoveC’‘ program plans to hold annual GHG Summer Schools in Germany in 2024–2025, where six and seven Pakistani scientists will receive training alongside ten young German scientists. The Pakistani scientists commit to passing on what they learned at NUST’s GHG summer school.

If you are passionate about agroecology and environmental sciences and want to contribute to the global dialogue. This is just the opportunity. Apply today!
