One of the most awaited fellowships in South Korea is back with its 17th edition. You heard it right. Applications are finally open for the POSCO Asia Fellowship for the academic year 2026. A prestigious fellowship program administered by the POSCO TH Park Foundation is inviting applications from young intellectuals from Asian countries who wish to pursue Master’s and PhD degree programs in the reputed Higher education institutes in South Korea.
The objective of the POSCO fellowship is to cultivate outstanding future global leaders who possess an interest and a better understanding of Korean Culture, Economy, and Society. The fellowship is designed to support students from Asian countries who want to pursue their degree program in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) at one of the designated institutes. Multiple top-ranked higher education institutes of South Korea are participating in this program to be considered for the fellowship, Applicants must gain admission in one of the partner institutes.
The POSCO fellowship offers a comprehensive financial support covering, monthly stipend, full tuition fees, and additional settlement allowance with other perks and benefits that we will discuss later in this post. The fellowship is more than an academic program as it also offers opportunities for culture and professional development through workshops, seminars, visits to POSCO steel mills, and cultural experiences to provide students with a better understanding of Korean Society and industry.
The scholars will also have an opportunity to pursue their careers with POSCO after completing their study program. What else do you want? There is No Application Fee required to apply for the program. A total of 50 fellowships will be awarded for this session. Scholarship Duration
The fellowship supports the scholars for the duration of the degree program
- Master’s Degree: 2 Years
- PhD Degree: 3 Years
POSCO Fellowship Coverage
The fellowship offers support for:
- Full tuition fees for the duration of the degree program
- A monthly stipend of ₩1,000,000 KRW (approximately $750 USD)
- One-time settlement allowance of ₩1,000,000 KRW
- National Health Insurance coverage
- Complete access to online Korean language courses
- Exclusive access to seminars, workshops, and cultural experiences
Who can Apply?
Applicants meeting the following criteria are eligible for the fellowship:
- Applicants holding a citizenship of Asian countries are eligible to apply
- Korean nationals are not eligible to apply
- Applicants have secured a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2.7 GPA/4.00
- Willing to pursue a graduate degree program in STEM-related fields
- Secure admission in one of the 9 participating South Korean institutes
- Demonstrate leadership potential
- Demonstrate English Proficiency through one of the following tests:
- TOEFL PBT: 550 | TOEFL iBT: 79 | TOEIC: 750 | New TEPS: 327 | IELTS: 6.0
