One of the most anticipated training programs in Germany is now open! Applications are invited for the SLE Postgraduate Programme 2026. A one-year postgraduate degree program is organized by the Humboldt University of Berlin and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. It’s an intensive, practice-oriented training program focused on international cooperation, sustainable development, and project management. The SLE aims to prepare master’s graduates for careers in global cooperation and international development.
The SLE Postgraduate Programme invites applications from citizens of EU member states and developing countries who hold a master’s degree or equivalent in the areas of social and political sciences, environmental and natural sciences, economics, agriculture, and engineering. The program runs in two phases: the course phase, where trainees will engage in intensive coursework in Berlin, covering development policy and intercultural communication; and joint research projects, in which candidates will carry out research in a partner country.
The program offers generous support, including a monthly stipend, children’s allowance, and field project costs. The application window for the SLE program is currently open. The last date for application submission is June 30th, 2026. No application fee is required. Read more details below.

Program Structure
SLS Postgraduate is a one-year full-time program delivered in the following 3 phases:
1. Preparation Phase:
The phase runs from January to May, during which the participants are engaged in intensive modular training that includes Methodological training, Themantic Seminars, Soft skills, and Project Planning
2. Field Pase:
The field phase runs from June to August. In this phase, the participants will carry out interdisciplinary field research on one of the SLE’s partner countries in the Global South
3. Completion Phase
The completion phase runs from September to December, in which the participants will prepare a report on their research findings and present their work to the commission organizations. This phase also includes job application training, coaching, coachin and networking events
Coverage
The SLE program offers the following support to successful candidates:
- Participants will receive a monthly allowance of €1,300 per month.

Eligiblity Criteria
To be eligible for the program, you must fulfill the following criteria:
- Accepting applications from citizens of EU member states and developing countries
- Applicants who have completed their master’s or equivalent degree in Engineering, Economics, Social Sciences, Agriculture, or related fields
- Demonstrate relevant professional work experience through internships and job placements
- Fleuncy in the English language
- Knowledge of French, Spanish, and German would be an assett
- Excellent academic achievements
