The United Nations Development Programme, a specialized agency of the United Nations, seeks applications for a “Communication and Programme Internship position” at the Malaysia UN-SDG Trust Fund. It’s a full-time internship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with a 3-month contract. The internship is intended for talented and motivated students currently enrolled in bachelor’s or master’s degree programs, or those who have recently graduated within the past 1 year from recognized higher education institutions. Applications from all academic backgrounds are invited, but preference will be given to students in mass communication, public relations, marketing, journalism, graphic design, and related fields.
No country restrictions – the position is open to all nationalities. The internship offers students and recent graduates the opportunity to gain firsthand experience in Programme Management, Communication, and sustainable development while contributing to impactful projects in a dynamic work environment. The selected interns will perform their duties in the Malaysia-UN SDG Trust and work alongside the Fund Secretariat team to support communication, monitoring, and evaluation. The fund was established in partnership with the United Nations Malaysia and the MY SDG Foundation and is supported by the Ministry of Finance. Eligiblity Criteria
Candidates meeting the following criteria are invited to submit an application for the Communication & Programme Internship 2026:
- Accepting applications from all nationalities
- Students in the final year of a bachelor’s degree or in a master’s degree can apply
- Candidates recently graduated from the above degree programs
- Candidates enrolled in the traineeship programs, industrial placement, sandwich placement, and internship is a requirement of the programme can apply
- Students and graduates from all academic disciplines can apply
- Preference will be given to applicants in fields of communication, public relations, journalism, graphic design, marketing, or relevant areas.
- Fluency in the English language
- Knowledge of the Bahasa Malaysia language would be an assett
Required Skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
- Knowledge of design tools such as Canva, Adobe, etc
- Basic to intermediate video editing software like CapCut, etc
Intern’s Role
The selected interns will assist in the following duties:
- Develop content for promotional activities
- Manage the social media accounts
- Monitor social media accounts of stakeholders and grantees
- Organize and summarize reports for monitoring and communication
- Support the events by managing RSVP, taking videos, and photos
- Assist with any additional work when required
